According to my records I had installed LoL in February but never tested it until 2 weeks ago. And then I didn't like it.

Blizzard being Blizzard may still see me testing HotS, but I'm already pretty sure it won't be my cup of tea.Nogamarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16541775026595839236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-826986957606858027.post-71948936535288693892015-01-14T20:06:02.653-05:002015-01-14T20:06:02.653-05:00I've played a number of MOBAs at this point, b...I've played a number of MOBAs at this point, but the three I've played the most are Dota 2, Smite, and Heroes of the Storm.

Of the three, Heroes of the Storm has the most punishing business model, Dota 2 has the least, and Smite falls somewhere in between.

I've happily thrown money at Dota 2 for things I didn't need, just to support the game and get cool stuff, even though EVERY SINGLE HERO is available for use at all times by all players. You get the whole game for free.

I happily spent $29 on SMITE to unlock all current and future gods. I can use the currency I earn in game for skins, but will always be able to player whichever character I want.

I haven't spent a dime on Heroes of the Storm. $10 for a single character is too much, even though there are some I would definitely like to have.

It's not about "I deserve to play this game for free waa waa waa" but rather value for money. Smite has it, Heroes of the Storm does not.

It's not as if there business models are hurting Dota 2 and Smite either. Dota 2 has had the two biggest prize pools for a tournament of any Moba ever, and Smite had the 3rd largest. This despite the much larger established playerbase of League of Legends.

It's almost as if the more forgiving business model encourages avid players to spend money, rather than require it. Nobody likes to feel forced into an expensive purchase.Warsydehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14167250810061082203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-826986957606858027.post-33613862544772859632015-01-14T17:44:53.217-05:002015-01-14T17:44:53.217-05:00I'm not in heroes yet so I haven't experie...I'm not in heroes yet so I haven't experienced the model but from the sound of it they basically repeated their hearthstone model. Most of your gold comes from dailies and it drops to nil for repeated play. That's part of what stopped me from playing HS, just too grindy.

I hope Blizzard reverses their decision as plenty of other MOBAs manage to survive with somewhat more forgiving systems.Clockworkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00565064315360664711noreply@blogger.com
